Is Teeth Whitening Toothpaste Worth It?
Teeth whitening comes in various forms. Ever since it was first designed and scientists started working on it, they’ve been trying to improve it and make it easier for us in every aspect. However, they have also released some rather questionable products, which don’t fulfill the role of a good whitener, but enhance its quality. Those products won’t do much on their own, so most people start wondering whether or not they’re worth their money.
Should I use teeth whitening toothpaste?
Toothpaste is one of these products. It’s normally used to maintain the teeth’s shine, not to completely clean them out. However, some companies claim that their toothpastes have teeth whitening capabilities, and can cleanse any stains from within your teeth. This is not true for several reasons. The main one is that teeth bleaching is very acid-sensitive – if the bleaching agent contacts acid in large quantities, it will be neutralized. This is why you use trays when bleaching your teeth. However, by just brushing them with toothpaste, you’re letting the agent come in free contact with your saliva.
Additionally, bleaching takes time. You can’t expect to brush your teeth once and be done with it. Sadly, this is just what most teeth whitening toothpastes offer – and fail to deliver. A teeth whitening toothpaste is not meant to be a complete replacement for the procedure. It should only help you finish the results of a bleaching session, and remove any tiny stains that the regular bleaching left. You shouldn’t expect to brush your teeth once or twice, and get them bleached.
In the end, this kind of toothpaste remains questionable. Sure, it has its advantages over the regular kind, but it’s just too unreliable to work with it on its own. You need to rely on a complete teeth bleaching solution if you want to make your teeth white again.
How to properly make use of this toothpaste?
If you want to make some use of teeth bleaching toothpaste, use it after you’ve bleached yourself with an actual kit. You’ll see that the toothpaste will be able to preserve your shine for longer, and it will have great effect on your already bleached teeth. You can’t expect it to do all the work on its own though, that’d be ridiculous. You should know what expectations to have when you go in the whole bleaching thing, so that you can be prepared for the results.
