Whiten Your Teeth
Has your smile lost its luster? Maybe it’s time to stop relying on brushing by itself. Sure, no dental hygiene is complete without regularly brushing your teeth. However, that alone will never save you from the stains which nest themselves deeply within the tooth, refusing to come out under any circumstances. You should understand that teeth whitening is a completely normal procedure for a lot of people – it’s entirely cosmetic, doesn’t pose any risks, and is now cheap as well. You can’t lose anything from trying it, so you might as well go for it!
How it works
Teeth whitening works on a simple premise. Stains are deep inside the teeth – where no brush can reach them. That’s why you need a special chemical which can penetrate the tooth’s pores, and reach inside to clean out those stains. Such chemicals are prepared into solutions, often in a gel form. You then take that solution and apply it directly to the teeth. Often, a special tray is used, designed to even out the spreading and make sure that as much as possible is covered by the gel. Trays are often preferred, since they ensure an equal distribution of the gel over the teeth.
Should I start at the dentist?
Absolutely. A dentist will be able to tell you what type of bleaching is most suitable for you, and whether or not you should do teeth bleaching at all. The last part may sound strange, but there’s a strong reasoning behind it – some people shouldn’t bleach their teeth for various reasons, including pre-existing mouth conditions. In that case, it’s best to wait until the condition’s over, before you proceed with the bleaching. Some conditions will prevent you from bleaching at all, in which case there’s simply nothing you can do but accept it.
Can I do it myself?
After your dentist has directed you, you have two options – let him/her do the bleaching for you, or do it yourself with a home kit. The second option is normally the better one, as it will provide you with more controllable results, in addition to being cheaper. You’ll not only spend a lot less than you’d normally do, but you also get to choose when exactly to perform the bleaching – something which is a huge plus when it comes to such lengthy procedures as teeth bleaching. And believe us, it can become quite lengthy at times.
