How it works

Teeth bleaching works by destroying the stains within your teeth. It’s not as simple as just brushing them with toothpaste – bleaching requires special compounds which are able to break down stains effectively, so that the effect can last longer. One disadvantage to traditional whitening methods is that they take a lot of time to achieve their effects – for example, a normal bleaching gel may take up to a few weeks to get your teeth absolutely white and shining. However, if you want true beauty in your smile, this is the only way to achieve it.

Internal bleaching

There is a special kind of bleaching, called internal bleaching – as you can probably guess by the name, it involves bleaching your teeth from the inside, getting the plaque at the source. This type of bleaching cannot be performed with the traditional gel and such methods – the tooth has to be drilled lightly, so that the chemicals can be injected directly at the core. From there, they start working their way outwards towards the surface of the tooth, destroying any stain formations on the way.

Speeding it up

If you’re not patient enough to wait for the regular bleaching periods, you can speed up the process by using a special laser which accelerates the bleaching process. This laser is commonly provided with home bleaching kits, and most dentists are also equipped with one. With it, you can drastically decrease the time it takes to get your teeth bleached, resulting in a whiter smile even quicker. The downside to this is that lasers sometimes reduce the period of effectiveness of the bleaching itself, so you may find your white teeth not lasting as long as usual with this method.
