A Perfectly White Tooth – Thanks To Teeth Whitening!

If you’re past your thirties, and especially if you used to (and still do) drink lots of coffee, and smoke cigarettes, you probably aren’t enjoying a shiny white smile anymore. Don’t worry, you’re not alone – everyone with these habits eventually reaches your place. Most accept it as inevitable and go on with their lives, but only a few explore the possibilities given to them and find out that it’s far from impossible to treat a case of stained teeth. All you need is a good teeth whitening kit, some knowledge on the process, and a lot of patience.

How it works

Your teeth become yellow because over time, they’re filled with various stains and other leftovers of whatever passes through your mouth. This makes your smile unpleasant to look at, which in turn creates discomfort for you. Teeth bleaching, as it’s also known, makes use of various chemicals – mostly Hydrogen Peroxide – to penetrate the teeth’s pores, and sink deep within the tooth, bleaching it from the inside. This is not painful in any way, and it’s completely safe – provided you’ve got a healthy dental history of course.

What are the risks?

Normally, there are no risks involved with bleaching your teeth. However, if you fall under certain categories, it may be best to avoid this procedure altogether – for example, if you’re a teenager under the age of sixteen, you’d best wait until you’ve reached that age. This is because your teeth are still developing until that point, and it’s dangerous to apply bleaching chemicals to them. Also, pregnant women and women who’re currently breastfeeding should avoid bleaching at all costs, as it may damage the baby. It’s best to wait until it’s grown a little and you’ve stopped breastfeeding it, so that you can safely bleach your teeth.

Is it expensive?

It used to be. It also used to be rather unavailable – limited to only those with the most connections and money. Today, it’s a different story – most drugstores can sell you a professional bleaching kit for little money, or you can order one on the Internet. Even if you decide to go to the dentist for it, you still won’t pay as much as people used to in the past. And considering that you only need to do this procedure once a year at most, it’s a tiny price to pay for the results you’ll get.
