Dental Care Remedies For Common Problems
Gingivitis, toothaches, and sores in the mouth are unfortunately common occurrences, usually happening when the patient is already in need of dental care. The root causes of these conditions are the numerous bacteria that reside in everyone’s mouth, many of which are actually essential to the digestive process.
What is alarming however is that scientists have discovered that excessive bacteria in the mouth can actually cause a lot more problems than tooth decay, gum disorders or gingivitis. This makes the case for effective dental care all the more compelling and only serves to emphasize the importance of getting quality dental care even if you don’t currently have gingivitis.
The bacteria that are primarily responsible for causing gingivitis are always present in the plaque, and they can cause inflamed, bleeding gums that may eventually work their way free form the teeth. And of course bad breath is one of the most common results of gingivitis. In fact, in severe cases of gingivitis, the gums may be constantly sore, until they eventually recede and cause teeth to loosen.
In order to prevent all this from happening, you can use the following herbal remedy as an effective dental care treatment:
2 spoons of white oak bark in powder form
1 spoon of myrrh gum herb powder
3/4 spoon peppermint leaves, crushed and ground into powder
½ spoon anise
1/8 spoon cloves
Any of the ingredients that are not in powder form should first be ground up using a coffee grinder. This is a great way to make a large amount of the mixture, which can be stored for regular use.
You will then have to place the mixture into a container such as a small medicine bottle. You generally have a bit of leeway in mixing the ingredients so don’t worry about having to get them exactly right.
Te mixture can then be used anywhere from three times a day to once a week, depending on how severe your gingivitis is. All you have to do is place a small amount of the powder on your toothbrush in much the same way as you would toothpaste, and brush it all over your teeth and gums. After you have brushed it over your teeth for a few minutes, you can then spit it out, although you shouldn’t rinse out your mouth as you would when brushing with toothpaste, since you will want to get he full effect of the herbs in the mixture. You don’t have to worry about swallowing as little bit of the mixture either, as it is totally harmless.
Some people may find the powder a bit on the bitter side. If you think so, adding a little more peppermint should make for a bit more palatable dental care solution.
